Madlen Kanzler

Madlen Kanzler was born in Erfurt in 1987 and started playing guitar at the age of 7. She began her musical career at the Music School of Erfurt. By visiting special music classes in Gera, she received a comprehensive training in singing, piano, choir and choral conducting. In 2006 Madlen began to study the guitar, initially at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre with Prof. Thomas Offermann. In 2009 she attended the University of Music and Performing Arts of Stuttgart and took guitar classes by Prof. Johannes Monno. She has finished her Bachelor and Master "with distinction". In addition she successfully completed her education at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in spring of 2016 with the concert exam Prof. Andrzej Mokry.
Her repertoire includes all stylistic epochs which can be heard on her first solo CD “Es klinget so herrlich…“ (“It sounds so georgeous…”).
In 2012, Madlen won the second prize and the audience award at the "Sparda Klassik Award" in Weingarten/ Baden. She is also a finalist and winner of some national and international competitions.
She regularly attends master classes with Carlo Marchione, Thomas Müller-Pering, Olaf van Gonnissen and the Gruber-Maklar duo. Together with Cornelia Lorenz she formed the guitar duo “Lorka” in 2009-2013, which was artistically supervised by Tillmann Reinbeck. The duo was funded by the "Yehudi Menuhin - Live Music Now" organisation. The artists successfully concerted in 2012 at the "20 Oberstdorf Music Summer".
Madlen is living in Erfurt since 2013 and supervises a guitar class at the Music School of Erfurt.
